Next Meeting: June 30th

Thanks to everyone who came out for our first meeting last Saturday at Ryco Creative Sewing Center. About 20 people came out to meet and greet each other, show and tell about some projects, and talk about what we'd like to get out of the group. I forgot to bring my camera this time around, but I promise to bring it next time so that we can capture some of the amazing projects that were shared!

Our next meeting: Saturday, June 30th at 2pm
at Ryco Creative Sewing Center, 25 Carrington Street, Lincoln

On the agenda:

Show & tell - bring a project to show to the group (in progress is fine)!

Discussion about labeling quilts - bring an example of how you label your quilts, and learn different ways that others are doing it. Check out this post that I found a while back about the importance of labeling quilts and preserving your history!

Christmas/wintertime fabric swap and mug rug challenge! - bring whatever Christmas/wintertime fabric you'd like to purge from your stash, and go home with some new fabrics to create a mug rug. We'll bring our finished mug rugs to our July meeting and swap them with each other.

What's a mug rug, you ask? A mug rug is bigger than a coaster but smaller than a placemat - the perfect size for a mug of tea and a little snack. Think of it as a very mini quilt! A quick and easy project that's a great chance to try something new and play a little.

Here are some links to online tutorials for mug rugs to get your creative juices flowing:

Until June 30th, Happy Sewing!
