Survey / New Developments
We had a great response on our member survey and had a few gift cards to give away to the lucky winners. If you have suggestions, ideas, or questions, don't wait for the next survey to let us know! Click the "contact us" link on the sidebar and send your thoughts our way.
Next month, we will have more details to present to the group regarding joining The Modern Quilt Guild, and how we will improve/develop our Rhode Island chapter.
The Art Spark Challenge is still available for those who want to participate! The deadline is August 1st to upload your inspiration art and your quilted art to their Flickr page.
Carole Ann already finished hers:
Our next challenge is a 2-month challenge (due September), and is called "Make it Modern". The goal is to take something traditional (technique, style, fabric, etc.) and put a modern twist on it.
Not sure how to define "modern"? No worries, at our August meeting we will be having a group discussion on what we think "modern" means to our guild. Come prepared with ideas so that we can chat as a group!
Sewing Machine Share
We learned a lot from our discussion about the brands/types of machines we all use (I wish I had a knee lift!) Keep us posted if you get a new machine, we'd love to hear about it.
Show & Tell
We had beautiful items at show & tell (not surprised, our members are so talented!)
Paper Piecing with Tina
Tina took some time after the meeting to demonstrate the paper piecing tips she explained at the June meeting. Check out the resources in our June Recap post. Hope to see some paper pieced items at show & tell next month!
Our next meeting is August 3rd at 2pm. Bring anything you'd like to share at show & tell (finished or in progress). We hope to see some Art Spark Challenge quilts too! We will be hosting a discussion on what our guild defines as "modern" (to prepare for our "Make it Modern" challenge), so come prepared with some ideas!
See you next month; Happy Quilting!
