September Meeting Recap

We had a great turnout for our September meeting at our new location at The Cumberland Public Library.  Thank you all for coming and welcome to our guests.

Sue Bleiweiss and Nancy Turbitt, of SAQA were here to introduce our members to the Studio Art Quilt Associates. Sue is one of the MA/RI Regional Reps for SAQA and Nancy is from RI. Check out the SAQA Regional Blog for details on upcoming events.


Committee Updates:

Activity Committee:   Black and White Challenge - Using Black and White with the addition of one other color (variations OK) and create a modern quilt project.  DUE:  November Meeting!

Charity Committee: Karen pieced donated blocks together, Jodi offered to quilt it, Jenn offered to bind our 1st Charity Quilt! Keep those blocks coming - thanks in advance!

Special Events Committee:  Mark your calendars for a special guest speaker on Saturday October 25th!  Rachel May!!


3 x 3 Applique Demo:  

Thank you to Suzanne, Tina and Leslie for demoing their personal techniques for applique. We all picked up a tip or two from these talented ladies.

 Susanne is partial to raw edge applique!

 Tina showed us the finer points of needle turn hand applique!

 Leslie shared her method of machine applique!


Show and Tell:


 Tara's twin boy elephant quilts were all from her stash!

 Tara's patchwork pillow is available in her shop!

 Carole Ann loves her interfacing method for piecing small squares!

 Charity showed us her finished Michael Miller Quilt!

 Jenn showed us her foster children block from an international Bee she's in!


 Leslie shared two pillow covers with UFO's.

 Jill's Moda Bake Shop wall hanging has beautiful pebbling!

 Everyone loved the ombre binding of Tina's spiral quilt!

 Mary's granddaughter will love her baby quilt!

 Bijou Lovely quilt with modern fabric is striking!

 Tara Celeste shared the inspiration for her Anchor Quilt - amazing!

 Meredith creatively used bamboo & walnut from her yard as the stand for her Budgie Branch gift!

Denise has made a lovely wedding quilt for her exchange student from Taiwan, which she will hand deliver to the new bride!
  

 Here are two of Pat's gorgeous quilts! She is published in 500 Traditional Quilts Book!
