October Meeting Recap

We were promised an action packed October meeting, and it didn't disappoint!

Many members worked all morning on the guild's entry in the QuiltCon charity challenge. Most blocks were completed in one day. A team is already prepared to create the last--and largest--block, and then the top is ready to be assembled!

Next up, the much anticipated reveal of the HST challenge! It was so much fun to see everyone's unique take on the project. The creativity and talent was incredibly inspiring.

Finally, member show & tell!

After no meetings all summer, it was good to get together again! There was much news to be shared, including details of upcoming events: Timna Tarr workshop on September 16, the MQG charity quilt sew-day on October 7 and the guild retreat November 10-12. Sue K and Maria L shared their secrets for getting an accurate 1/4-inch seam, and Sue gave everyone a preview of the design for the MQG charity quilt.

What to Expect at the May Meeting...

The next meeting for the RIMQG will be Saturday, May 6th at Diamond Hill Park. PLEASE NOTE: This is a location change from our normal spot... it's just up the road from the library, and across the street from the Ice Cream Machine.

There are some exciting topics on the agenda for this month. Members who attended QuiltCon in Savannah will be sharing their experiences... and their photos! If you weren't able to make it in person, this is a great way to hear more about the show. We will also be having a demonstration of three different binding techniques. Demonstrations are a wonderful way to learn something new, ask questions about techniques, and learn from your fellow guild members. (If you are a member who has a skill or technique you want to share, please feel free to contact us.)

And lastly... For those of you participating in the 2017 Modern Mystery Challenge... bring your half square triangles to swap! Remember, it's 16 squares, size of 6.5 inches, using Kona solids only. This month is WARM/COOL colors. (One warm color and one cool color per square... but they don't all have to be the same mix of colors.) Bring them in a quart-sized ziploc bag with your name labeled either on the bag, or on a piece of paper inside.

See you all soon!
